For Jack’s 25^th birthday, I took him on a BIG SURprise! In case you didn’t get my unbelievably clever pun, I surprised him in Big Sur. To cut our 6 hour drive short, we stopped by Morro Bay for the day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

It has beautiful sandy beaches, great land adventures and sea excursions, and home the world famous Morro Rock, a big rock smack in the middle of Morro Bay (clever name, right?). I wanted to start off the big surprise weekend with another surprise. I wanted to try something we both have never done. Stand Up Paddle Board lesson in Morro Bay.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As most of you know, I am terrified of the ocean and Jack has a strong surfing background, so naturally, we all knew he’d excel and I would be the one to fall. So we got paddle board lessons to perfect our techniques and paddle boarding ways.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We partnered up with Stand Up Paddle Boarding Morro Bay (SUP Morro Bay). Mary taught us the many technique to paddle boarding. We suited up in our wetsuits and started our lesson with some land demos. Easy, I totally got this (but then again, I said that when I surfed and obviously didn’t do too well).

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Roxy, the paddle boarding dog, showed off her skills as we were about to board onto our boards into Morro Bay. We stepped on our boards and immediately feel unnatural and wobbly. Standing on water and balancing uses muscles I never knew existed!

Oh god, I am definitely going down.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For an hour, Mary taught us how to turn, go faster, walk around the board, how to paddle through rough tide, and all the ways to conquer your way through the ocean with a paddle board. It was super fun! And it was also such a warm and beautiful day out, like we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Plus, there was so much unexpected marine life—otters, seals, manta rays! Awesome.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Once we got our basics down, we finally put our skills to test and go on a group paddle. And hey, guess who never fell? Paddle boarding in Morro Bay was an incredible experience and we highly recommend going when passing through to Big Sur.
