Our Experience

We met our chef, Florent, at his place at 7:30pm. We were greeted with warm smiles and the smell of some delicious food. We knew we would be having a good time! We sat at the table and were served Mozzarella, tomato and basil skewers with some delicious French white wine! Cheese and wine. He gets totally us. :)

We started our meal with a French and African fusion salad with a 6 minute soft boiled egg and plantain chip fritters. We were so impressed with the way Florent cooked the egg; it was runny, it broke beautifully, and tasted wonderful with all the entirety of the salad.

Our favorite dish was the main course-Peanut crusted salmon and tomato risotto. Not only was it beautifully presented, but it was a salmon unlike we have ever had before. Plus, if you know anything about cooking risotto, it’s that it is really hard to get right in such a short amount of time. But, Florent did and made it a flavor we have never tried before! We are drooling just thinking about it!

The dessert was definitely an interesting take on a tiramisu. It was light, fluffy, and sweet but had an awesome crunch from the popcorn and crystallized honey. We have never seen anything like it but it was truly fantastic. If that was on a menu, we would happily order it a restaurant!

One thing we would like to mention, is that Florent is very French and couldn’t speak much English. He had no idea that I was fluent yet, he went out of his way to invite a friend of his to help translate French to English. This really made our experience. His kindness showed through and he wanted to make sure we were happy and comfortable with our dinner. We really appreciate all the efforts he’s done to make sure we had an incredible Bonappetour experience.
